FAQ

If you cannot find the answer to your question below, contact us via the Contact page!

1 - Can I drink without the straw?

Yes you can! There are several ways to use My_SmartBottle. You can either use the straw, you can drink without a straw or you can use it to pour your liquid into a glass.

2 - My bottle cannot connect with the app. What should I do?

First check if your bluetooth connection on your phone is turned on. Try reconnecting! If your bluetooth is on, but connection still fails - try removing the app and installing it again. If it still doesn’t work, sens us a message through the contact-page of our website. For sure our CTO-brainiac will be able to sort it out for you! ;-)

3 - Can I drink carbonated drinks in My_SmartBottle?

You can! BUT you should remove the straw to drink. Otherwise the liquid (due to pressure differences) will pour out of the top when opening the cap!

4 - What’s the best way to travel with My_SmartBottle?

When travelling, whether it’s walking, hiking, cycling… it’s best to keep your My_SmartBottle in a vertical position to avoid any liquid coming out of the bottle into the sensor.

5 - Can I drink hot drinks in My_SmartBottle?

You can - but it’s not recommended as the sensor performs measurements based on pressure differences. These might be impacted when drinking hot liquids. Moreover, since My_SmartBottle is not insulated there’s risk of burning when drinking hot liquids - so be careful!

6 - What’s the best way to clean My_SmartBottle?

Whenever cleaning your My_SmartBottle, the golden rule is: Save the brain! Or in technical terms: remove the sensor module from the cap. Subsequently, detach the straw.

Put the 3 main components (transparent bottle, cap without sensor module and straw) in the dishwasher. Turn the dishwasher on! (Yes, it’s in the details! ;-))

After the dishwasher has finished its cleaning process, remove the seal spout (rubber cover on the inside of the upper part of the cap) to dry any remaining water drops with a clean towel. When dry, you can add the seal spout back on!

Reassemble your My_SmartBottle (insert the sensor module, connect the straw, screw the cap back onto the bottle) and you’re good to go!

7 - Help! My_SmartBottle just fountain-style sprayed liquid all over! What happened?

When you’re on a plane, in an air balloon or any other location high up in the sky… or when you haven’t used your My_SmartBottle for a while, pressure builds up in the bottle. As a result, when you open your bottle, the liquid will enter the straw and spontaneously come out on the top! This should be avoided at all times, to avoid the sensor module getting wet. This is easily done by lightly unscrewing the cap from the bottle (to enable air to flow in) before you open the cap!

8 - I’ve made a mistake an my sensor module got wet… what do I do?

My_SmartBottle’s sensor module in this sense can be compared to a lot of electronic devices such as your phone, laptop… Unfortunately this means that water insertion into the sensor module can severily damage the device and thus the performance of your My_SmartBottle. Try to put the sensor module in a bag of rice for 24hours. This might sort it out! Do not disassemble the sensor module at any point. This will cause irreparable damage.

9 - My_SmartBottle is connected with the app, yet no measurements are detected! What do I do?

If your app shows it’s connected with your My_SmartBottle, but no measurements are registered, this might be due to a water droplet finding a way into the sensor module! In this case, blow through the hole at the bottom of the sensor module (where it states ‘keep dry’). Try reconnecting!
